The White People By Frances Hodgson Burnett - The White People (1920) was a novella written in World War I by Frances Hodgson Burnett, which details her beliefs on what happens after death.  Supernatural novella set in contemporary Scotland about a little girl who can see ghosts ("the white people") that are unobserved by everyone else around her. A fairly typical Burnett tale, depicting the loneliness of a child despite her rich surroundings, a bit sentimental perhaps, but with a good deal of genuine pathos as well. "
