Exceptionally clean and solid two volume set by French physician, Nicolas Andry. Born in Lyon, Andry was headed to the priesthood but instead devoted his life to the field of medicine. A writer also, he reveals in these books the results of his extensive research utilizing his microscope in order to study the nature of parasites. He believed that these parasites, or "worms" as he called them, were the culprit for many diseases. Considered to be the first treatise on parasistology. This 1741 edition is considered the finest, the most illustrated, and most extensive.

The final pages of the second volume discusses tobacco as a medicine and later as harmful to the human body.

 While Volume II is text, Volume I is heavily illustrated and contain many plates all of which are bright, clean, and fresh. No marks or tears. 
Mottled calf covers with decorative and gilt design. With marbled end papers and rouge edged pages. Plates are in excellent condition. Although both volumes are of the same date with the same publisher and edition, their exterior decorations are different. Please see pictures. NO Weird smells/mold etc Amazingly Clean
